What do you like to do for fun?
Travel, travel, travel! I also like to do yoga and workout whenever I can. When I’m home, I love discovering new restaurants/cafes and catching up with friends over a glass of wine or a cup of coffee!
How do you juggle life, work, and social media?
That’s definitely a bit of a challenge when you have a full-time job but it’s all about getting organized ahead of time! I try to dedicate my weekends to exploring the city and shooting new content since that is hard to do sometimes during the week.
What sparked your interest to travel?
Ever since I was little, my parents would take us on family vacations to Europe during the summer. This sparked my interest at a very young age.
I have always been an adventurous and spontaneous person and I absolutely love exploring new places, learning about different cultures, trying new foods, and meeting new people. I feel like traveling is such good food for your mind, body & soul!
How have you managed to find inspiration during the pandemic?
That was tough for sure! I found that I started creating and posting a lot more lifestyle stories (what my day to day looks like, unboxing packages, food recipes, my workouts, etc.) to keep my audience engaged while still sharing pictures from my old travels.
It was a good opportunity to dig into the archives and post pictures that I had forgotten about!
What type of content generates the most engagement with your followers and how do you keep them engaged?
Travel! I also find that personal, non sponsored content always generates the most engagement, i.e announcing my pregnancy!
What are some challenges you have faced as a nano-influencer?
A few things: The ever-changing Instagram algorithm – this one is self-explanatory :). Nano-influencers are often underpaid just because of their low number of followers yet most of the time they have the highest engagement rate. Time management – sometimes it’s hard to juggle a full-time job, social life, and content creation.
What 3 things does anyone starting as an influencer/content creator need to know?
I would say the 3 most important things are to post consistently, engage with others, and most importantly use hashtags! Hashtags are your best friends when used properly.
But also, do NOT under any circumstances buy followers (my biggest pet peeve) or join engagement pods as those will only help you temporarily but hurt you in the long run!
Brands can tell when you have fake followers from your metrics. There’s no point in cheating the system.
Be authentic, post high-quality photos, don’t compare yourself to others, don’t copy others blindly (another pet peeve) just be yourself and have fun!
If you had a chance to restart your influencer marketing journey, what would you do differently?
I feel like when I started, I solely focused on my likes and comments and barely engaged with other accounts/creators. The truth is, engagement is key! It’s the only way to grow organically.
You need to build a community that knows you and trusts you! If I could start over I would focus on that from the beginning and I would also be more consistent in posting (even now, I still struggle with that sometimes).
Influencer marketing can be overwhelming sometimes, does it affect your mental health and wellbeing? If so, what do you do to overcome it?
For sure! It’s very easy to be consumed by the world of social media, it takes up so much of my time sometimes without me even realizing it. I like to dedicate 30 mins to an hour each night where I go for a walk with my husband (without our phones) to clear our heads and just catch up on our day or discuss ideas/plans for our lives. It’s a great break from social media and it helps to decompress :)
You’re almost a mom! How do you see the types of content you produce transition into?
That’s a great question! I’m still trying to figure that one out haha… I will definitely be incorporating more mom/baby content by sharing tips, tricks, and products that work for me/my little one but I don’t want to completely transition to that.
I definitely still want to be seen and referred to as a travel (mom) blogger and hopefully by then the tourism world would have opened up again! Fingers crossed!
Where do you see yourself 5 yrs from now as a content creator? Do you want to continue with influencer marketing? If so, what do you want to have accomplished?
I definitely see myself continuing down this path. My goal is to keep growing, build more connections, have a blog (currently working on one!), and to work with more brands that I love :)
